Music signature is 4/4 - that means 4 counts per bar of music, with the fourth beat split in two to give this dance its characteristic "2, 3, 4&1" rhythm. Another way of counting cha-cha is "step, step, cha cha cha". Keeping your steps compact and under your body is a must.
