How to Walk it Out
Video Transcript:
Hey, what’s going on everybody? Professor Lock here at Mahalo, giving you your hip hop moves, your hip hop groves.
Alright, today we’re going to learn the ‘Walk it Out’. It’s a move that you’ve seen and heard of and now you’re just trying to learn it so, let’s get right to it.
The basic breakdown of it is you’re actually walking out. What I mean by that is you’re turning your hips out, you’re turning your knees out and walking forward.
So what you want to do is this right here. Go here, here, here. Now here’s what’s happening. Let’s start with the hips. You want to sit in your hips; I’ll show you. Basically from here you’re going to go here sit in that hip so it’s poking out and you bend that knee, hip. So boom, boom, boom, boom.
Once you get that then you pivot the foot a little bit. So you’re going to take your right foot and go boom, so your right foot is turned out, you’re sitting into your left hip. And then you’re going to step forward in this motion so as you’re stepping forward you’re turning your left leg out so you’re going boom, right. And then you step forward again with the right foot, boom. And with the left foot, boom.
So here we go. 5-6-7-8 we go one, two, three, four; alright? Again, make sure you’re shifting that hip. Opposite hip to your foot.
5-6-7-8 we got one, two, three, four; and there’s a bounce, a natural bounce too. So it’s going to go dot-dot-dot-dot-boom-boom-bop. 5-6-7-8 bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.
Hands, right now just let your hands flow, like this. So here we go. 5-6-7-8 one, two, three, four. And we’re doing same hand, same leg. So 5-6-7-8 one, two, three, four. 5-6-7-8 one, two, three, four.
Good. Now what I want you to do now that you’ve got the step, is bend your knees; squat a little bit. Bend them so their nice and strong right here. And now do the same thing. Ready? One, two, three, four.
Alright, keep turning the hips and the knees out. So now let’s speed it up, one, two, three, four.
5-6-7-8 one, two, three, four. Yes, here we go.
And 5-6-5-6-7-8 one, two, three, four.
Alright, cool. That’s our ‘Walk it Out’ basically. So let’s actually do it now with some music.

We’re going to put it together with the music now.
You guys are going to flow. We’re all going to flow. Here we go. We’re all going to walk it out. Walk it out. Walk it out. Here we go, and 5-and 6-5-6-7-8 one, and two, and bounce. 5-6-7 tap, tap, tap, tap, boom. And 5-6-7 tap, tap, tap, tap, boom.
Yay, see that little bounce up? Let’s add that; that’s our little period. Our little flavour punctuation points. And 5-6-7-8 dot, dot, dot, dot, boom. Nice. Good job, good job.
