Q: What are the Benefits of Dancing?

A: Dancing is fun and good for your health! Doctors swear by it as low impact aerobic exercise, as well as a way to keep muscle tone and flexibility.

Dancing is a great way to make new friends and meet people! Most schools offer group classes. Classes are usually split into skill levels so whether you are a beginner or advanced dancer, there will be a class for you.

Learning to dance is good for the brain! When we keep stimulating the learning areas of the brain, it keeps us sharp and helps our memory.

Q: What Should I Learn?

A: That depends on you. Most schools offer some introductory lessons, which will allow you to experience different dances and different types of instruction.

If you want to become more flexible and improve overall grace and poise, perhaps Ballet or Jazz. If you want to be a better dancer at the club, some of the partner dances like Swing or Latin may be for you.

Q: Is it Hard to Learn to Dance?

A: No! Learning to dance is fun. It may sometimes be challenging and require some practice but it isn't difficult.

Q: How Long Will it Take?

A: There is no way to know. It has been my experience that the more you learn, the more you want to learn. Set some easy goals in the beginning. An excellent way to speed up the learning process is with repetition. This is where videos or DVDs are most helpful. You can watch the instructors on your television and follow them to practice the steps until you feel more comfortable. Click here to see a sample of one of our videos. Q: What Should I look For in a Studio?

A: Again, it depends on the style of dance you are interested in studying. Professionalism and a good facility are a must but the most important thing is convenience. If the studio is out of the way or offers class times on days that are not normally good, you will not be consistent in your lessons. It is very important that you are consistent in the beginning - this will keep your retention rate high. Click here to use our studio locator to find a studio near you.
