As a Professional Dance Instructor for over 25
years, I have one great piece of advice for
anyone who is looking for a good instructor:
find an instructor who has had some formal
training to be a teacher. Just because someone
is a good dancer and won some competitions
doesn't mean they have the training to be an
instructor.
As an instructor, you want to stay ahead of
the "competition". Studying for and taking
exams to gain your certification in all the
levels of each dance style will ensure
yourself of a greater awareness of what,
when and how to teach people of all ages and
skill levels. This will make you a GREAT
dance instructor and produce quality dancing
in your students. Not only will you earn
more for your lessons, you will also have
the satisfaction of knowing that you are
certified and someone that would be welcome
at any dance studio in the world.
