Samba originates from
Brazil where it is a national dance. Many versions
of are danced at the local carnival in Rio. To
achieve true character of this dance, a dancer must
use a pulsing action to accent it's flirtatious and
exuberant interpretation.
In Rio de Janeiro where Samba comes from people
celebrate Carnival season with this dance. Rio de
Janeiro dancers are world famous for the fantastic
costumes they wear. However their version of Samba
is danced solo! It is in fact a totally different
dance from the one danced as part of Latin-American
program.
Samba music is in 2/4 time with 2 beats per bar.
