Dancing With The Stars Week 3 Review by Anderson Moore

Week was story week on Dancing With The Stars. I have no idea how much the story line from the dance impacted the scores given by the judges, but it does add an interesting twist. With Michael gone the field is getting tight enough that I really think it will be the votes that make the difference this week more than the judges scores.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough Samba
Very good with the story telling, in fact I think it may have been the best of the lot. Very good technique. I say that because she is well grounded and really has the best control of herself from foot to foot of all the stars. As always Derek brings some clever chorography to show off Jennifer's skills. She was a bit rushed to me, and not as fluid, or clean as the past few weeks, but she will be in the finals.

Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas Waltz
For me the story was the saving grace for this dance. The dance hold needs work which is they spend so little time in it. Having said that it is the same for most of the dancers on the show. Very straight in the legs and bad feet and it isn't all Florence, Corky is a Latin dancer so he isn't used to the depth himself or the footwork for ballroom dancing. Overall a good routine and I think she will make it another week.

Anna Trebunskaya and Kurt Warner Foxtrot
Very nice job with the story telling i thought. Needed a little more time in dance position, but everyone that did a Ballroom dance was in the same boat. Kurt moves naturally and did a good job with his legs. I bet some of those offensive linemen in the NFL wished he had used his feet this well in his playing days. Nice easy going look while he is dancing, but his arm movements need to be softer. Should be back without a doubt

Margaret Cho and Louis van Amstel
Didn't really get the story to well, or maybe it just wasn't complete. Good energy and a decent pulse which is the key to the samba. Looked relaxed till about the last 1/3rd of the routine, then got frantic. Margaret seems to struggle with the changes from dance to dance. This might be her last week.

Adurina Patridge and Tony Dovoalni Quickstep
I will say it again, best top line of the bunch, which is why they spend as much time dancing in hold as they do. Not as committed this week to me, Audrina looked a little cautious. She needs much more depth in the legs for sure and to take a chance and let go. Will be back for sure

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas Foxtrot

Really playing up the single mom thing up insnt as much as a help I think as it is a hold back. The story was lacking to me and had too much Mark in the start. Well rehearsed! The dance hold was decent, but she is just to plain. She is fluid in movement, but way to much dancing up on the toes and not enough real foxtrot. The foxtrot is a tough dance to dance and it showed with her. I think she did well enough to be back next week, but you never know.

Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Samba
Brandy seems willing to get on board with what Maks wants her to do, but she has to execute and not be such a busy body.
Very well done once it got going. Didnt care to much for the story. She has a natural pulse and action for the Samba and shows that she can dance, just needs to stop overreacting. Feet still a little off, but overall I thought she got back in the race this week.

Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey Waltz
Take it to the limit is a great waltz and them not knowing who the Eagles were just blew my mind. Kyle has great rhythm, but still looks hectic. No real light and shade in the movements, it all seems to be moving at one speed. Horrible feet, which makes me question why they rehearse bare foot. They arent going to dance that way, why get good at it? The dance hold was spotty at best. Not his best effort yet, but I think he will be back.

Karina Smirnoff and Mike Sorrentino Foxtrot
This guy is about as fluid as a frozen stream. Confidence will not be his downfall, but it is too bad he cannot trade in some of it for some grace. This was a stretch to even call it a foxtrot and the story was horrible. It didn't have the Foxtrot dance style at all and who ever choose those outfits, we will just say not a good choice. I thought the judges scores were generous. Bottom line the situation is fubar. Should be his last week for sure.

Karina Smirnoff and Mike Sorrentino Quickstep
Better than last week, but it really didn't take much to improve on
that performance. The quickstep had a moment or 2 but they were few
and far between. I think he will be back, just because Michael is
still there, but if he went home this week I wouldn't be surprised..

Cheryl Burke and Rick Fox Samba
I liked the story and they seemed to work it well with the audience. Pretty Good timing and a nice pulse for the Samba. Light on his feet and good control of his core through the entire routine. Just in a little rush in my opinion the farther into the dance the got. Will be back for sure.
